Fresh Off The Ballot

The 2018 General Election in Mountain View has been heating up with activity from the candidates for City Council.  Former Mayor, Council Member for 2 terms and open Libertarian, John Inks, is returning to the arena! We are very excited to see John enter the race.  John was well supported during his previous terms and retired on a high note. After a bit of rest and recharge John was eager to get back to business!

From the Front Lines

Last weekend the Libertarian Party of Santa Clara County was proud to participate in the San Jose Pride Parade and Festival, which received one of its largest turnouts in its history.  While several candidates and elected officials were present, The Libertarian Party was the only political party who participated in the festival. The parade was covered by several news agencies, including KPIX Channel 5 who captured some video of us in action as we reminded everyone that we have been supporting LGBT issues since the parties conception, in 1971.  One of our buttons asked, “Where’s your party been?” to remind the left leaning attendees that the Democratic party did not add equality for the LGBT community until 2012, after the Supreme Court affirmed same sex marriage.

Fresh Off The Ballot

This November we are seeing an unprecedented amount of bonds in Santa Clara County.  There are 12 bonds proposed in the county totaling over $3.9 billion dollars. Adding up all the bonds in our county proposed over the last 10 years leading up to November, passed or failed,  total $11,094,252,058.  Over 26% of the 10 years total proposed amount of bonds is going to appear just on this one ballot.  For the record, only two of those previous bonds have failed, putting tax payers on the hook for over $10 billion already. Why the sudden run on the bank of taxpayers?
