Santa Clara County Yearly Convention

 

The annual convention of the Libertarian Party of Santa Clara County is held every year in January. The annual convention includes Party business as we look back on the successes and lessons of the year past and prepare for the year forward. Most importantly, the convention hosts our election of officers and review of bylaws.

Printed materials, Light snacks and drinks will be included.

Central Committee Members, in good standings, are encouraged to attend and vote on the people and direction of the Party as we prepare for the 2020 election. Non-members are welcomed to attend and observe or encouraged to join today!.

Post meeting dinner will be organized at the event for those who wish to attend. Dinner will occur in the Pruneyard Plaza.

Special Guests:

Prof. David Friedman

Prof. David Friedman is an American economist, physicist, legal scholar, and libertarian theorist. He is known for his textbook writings on microeconomics and the libertarian theory's, which is the subject of his most popular book. Prof. Friedman has been an impactful contributor to the Libertarian movement; much like his father Milton. 

Recently featured in Reason Magazine, Prof. Friedman shares his thoughts on what it means to be a Libertarian and how our message can, and should, resonate with the greater public. The exact topic of his talk is to be announced shortly.

Elections to be held:

 

Chair

The Chair shall preside at all central committee meetings and at all meetings of the Executive and Central Committees. They shall be the chief executive officer of the Party.

Vice Chair

The Vice-Chair shall act as assistant to the Chair, and shall perform the duties of the Chair in
the event the Chair is, for any reason, unable to perform the duties of his or her office.

Secretary

The Secretary shall be the recording officer of the Party.

Treasurer

The Treasurer shall receive, expend, and account for the funds of the Party under the
supervision and direction of the Chair and Executive Committee.

Activities Chair

The Activities Chair shall plan, coordinate, and execute activities related to the LP SCC intended to involve, motivate, and inspire members.

Campaign Chair

The Campaign Chair shall manage candidate recruitment, support, and training.

Fundraising Chair

The Fundraising Chair shall develop and coordinate general solicitations for donations, donation drive activities, pledge programs, and communication with major donors.

Membership Chair

The Membership Chair shall manage the LP SCC’s programs to promote membership growth; Including membership promotion literature, membership application forms, direct mail letters, advertisements, and in-person contact such as fair booths.

Newsletter Chair

The Newsletter Chair shall be responsible for publication of a newsletter for dissemination of information about the Party to the members.

Publicity Chair

The Publicity Chair shall be responsible for the dissemination of information about the Party to the media and the public.

About the Pruneyard:

 

1995 S. Bascom Avenue, Campbell CA

Located in San Jose near HW880/17 and HW280, the DoubleTree Inn - Pruneyard is centrally located to all of our members in the Santa Clara County. As our party has grown by over %33 this year we found it imperative to expand our annual meeting venue options beyond our traditional places. The DoubleTree Inn offers plenty of parking and is less than a 1/2 mile walk from the Hamilton VTA light rail stop.  The Pruneyard also offers a wide variety of dining options so that our guests do not feel confined to just one menu.
