Statewide Proposition 50
This is a constitutional amendment which would replace the Congressional districts created by the independent re-districting commission (established by a vote of the people) with districts re-drawn by the state legislature specifically for the purpose of increasing the number of Democrats elected to Congress from California.
The Libertarian Party of California recommends a NO vote on this proposition.
County Measure A
This would increase the county sales tax, supposedly to make up for cuts in federal spending on health care, but it's actually a general tax which means the money could be used by the county for any purpose. And even though it's supposedly "needed" to deal with a change in federal policy, somehow only Santa Clara County, out of the 58 counties in California, has decided that it needs to be addressed by increasing our sales tax.
The Libertarian Party of Santa Clara County recommends a NO vote on this measure.
